Wash the crimson away--
The red that paints this city.
Take my slumber away--
The horrors in every dream.

I'm falling on my knees,
Begging you--
Please,
Please,
Please,
Spare one last night for me.

This Afghan poverty
Makes me plead--
Please,
Please,
Please,
Death stop shadowing me.

Chase these ravens away--
Hunger that hunts so many.
See children waste away--
This plague we call poverty.

Every 11 seconds, a child dies of poverty. The war in Afghanistan has left so many people homeless and dying. Statistics show the average age in Afghanistan is 17, while in America, the average is 44. 1 in 5 kids here dies before the age of 5. It's so sad.

I attempted to write a structured poem based on a child in poverty. This is the most worked-on poem I've done yet. Hopefully it shines through and gives a smidgen of an idea to those that have no idea what's going on across the world.

Also--I promised that the next literary writing I put out there would go out to :icona7xfan666: because I noticed how loyal she was to my work. Commenting, favoriting, everything. Thanks for the support!

The originality of the issue which this work speaks of means little compared to the creative effort and technique put into it. However the fact still remains that the issue is spoken of often.
I think, though the technique could be improved, it is a remarkable work. The vision and passionate thought put into this piece of literary work is superb.
The work speaks to me of the pain and suffering being experienced around the world in less fortunate places. It speaks of death and chaos.

I wish to give my honest congratulations to the author, and my honest opinion of the work.

This is a nice poem from various perspectives.

First if we consider the theme then it is based on a very serious issue no matter how much it has been discussed beforehand. Bringing up such an issue without losing the integrity of it being a poem and not a factual report is worth noting.

Then the style, way of expression you have used is unique and unlike many "super unique" works that bore me on first sight, it was pleasing to me. A little shard here is the specification of the word Afghan. While it is not used in a negative sense, it induces though as to whether it could hold deeper more sinister meaning or not (not my opinion, just stating).

Lastly the ending is very well done and closes the poem well.

so I would say a very well done work!

Wow this is quite inspiring, but so sad at the same time. Good Job for showing interest towards those poor children and dedicating this poem for them I bet they would be much appreciated. Again, good job!
